Neck choicesThe 50's and 60's style necks were formerly available only on two different guitars. This year you can get the guitar you really wanted (the Standard) and choose the neck you like best!
Finish changes
The pigment for the HS finish (Heritage Cherry Sunburst) has been darkened a little so that the 'burst looks right. No more bright red sunburst - this one looks like the old ones did when they were new!
Back color
You may know about the way that Gibson uses pore filler to color mahogany. On the new Les Pauls the red pigment is a nice, rich tone - just like the traditional SG color (it's the same pigment!). More vintage vibe.
The latest Les Paul Standard features a beautiful book-matched AA flame maple top, vintage style tuners and nickel hardware. The Les Paul Standard is now loaded with custom designed BurstBucker pickups. These new pickups add a little more bite or edge to the sound, more like the original PAF pickups from the '50s. Also the Les Paul Standard is now available with either the '50s fatter rounder neck or the '60s slimmer flatter neck. Includes Free Case
